Timber- I got disgusted with the interminable time that it took to recharge my digital camera batteries, so I bought a "fast charger". Since it came with batteries, and was made by the battery manufacturer, I assumed that it would be all right.
I found a few problems. Since the charge was so fast, the batteries got hot, and the charger had a fan in it to keep things cooler. When I used the batteries, they appeared to discharge much faster, and I got far fewer pictures on one charge.
My husband warned me that batteries needed to be charged slowly, (something about the chemical changes in the batteries), and groused that I was probably ruining the batteries. I think that he was right, although I don't understand the science behind it. Anyhow, the quick charger is now in the black hole of one of my junk drawers!

Butrflynet wrote: I was thinking he could do the monthly charge/drain of the cell phone battery and between times keep the emergency power supply nearby for a quick charge when he finds a need to use the cell phone. That way the phone isn't on the charger 24/7 but he still has the option of 24/7 access to the cell phone with the aid of the instant recharger.
Not feasible?

That'd prolly work OK, as long as it was a "just once in a while" thing and the phone's battery otherwise got normal maintenance.

I plug mine in every night, all night. I have a Razor and from the start it lost it's charge pretty quickly. A lot of other people who have Razors say the same thing. Maybe it was a particular run of them that sucked but I have to charge mine every day regardless of use. If I use it for say, 1 hour total talk time but have it on all day the charge is down to 1-2 bars. If I talk any longer, it is almost dead.
