M theory is one flavor of string theory. I have no idea what itashi is asking, but I have no doubt that he will never hear a proper scientific explanation for the theory, would not understand it if he did, would not really comprehend the implications of the theory even if he understood the explanation, and would never know if it was right if he really did understand it, because nobody does.

M-Theory is not one flavour of string theory.
It is in fact the over-arching framework which the current 5 types of string
theory are expressions of.

A bit like seeing an elephant very close up from 5 different viewpoints so you never get to see the whole elephant and the bits you have seen seem unrelated to each other.
Eventually you start to realise that in fact the bits you're looking at are part of something bigger but you don't know what.
M-Theory is the elephant and the 5 viewpoints are the current string theories.
