The member here known as Ossobucco is our Italy specialist, I think. I'll alert her, and she may deal with this question when America awakes.

I have been in Tuscany, and I liked it a lot. It depends what you want to see. What are your interests? Art? Architecture? Antiquities? Food?

We have an italian in the board, Raphilion is his screen name. I met him at Rome around Christmas, I "studied" there for a semester last year.

You're questions are too broad right now, try to make them more specific.

On a general impression, I was pretty pleased with the country.

There are the three can't miss cities (Rome, Florence, Venice) but there whole lots of other cities worth visiting, of the ones I visited Bologna comes instantly to mind, Genova's also pretty. I didn't get to visit the south part so I can't really talk about that part but northern and southern Italy are very different from each other.

But yeah, osso will be able to say much more than me.

Thanks, McTag for telling me about this thread.
Yes, Raphillon is very helpful.
Fbaezer lived in Italy too. Frances knows it well, I think. Kickycan was there not so long ago. I'm just the most loudly opinionated poster about Italy.

Tell us a little about what you like to do, martahan, and what time of year you are thinking about going to Italy.

On the cities, it will depend on who you talk to as people have different favorites.

Many people try to see Rome, Florence, and Venice on their first trip. Doing that can leave you confused and exhausted from all there is to see - again, depending on your interests.

How much time will you have in Italy?
