I don't think it's possible to pick "the most beautiful female voice of all time".
There are so many great female vocalists past & present, I can do no more than pick
one I like at the moment, Sophie Michalitsianos, now performing as, Sol Seppy.
But that said I also like all the other singers that have already been mentioned on the tread.

Sol Seppy.....Enter One.

@kickycan,
Laughing Laughing Laughing , Yoko's having a bad trip or her
knickers are to tight. What a nut.
Or maybe it was her Meg Ryan impression, and
they applauded her, she's lucky I wasn't there,
I would have broke down laughing.

She sounds a bit like Enya, doesn't she? Another great voice - Enya!

@CalamityJane,
Yeah Enya has a sweet voice and I love her music.
But I have to say my favourite Irish female artist
at the moment is Cathy Davey.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This can hardly be improved on, to me.

@Lash,
I enjoy her version but I'm most partial to the original and the one that I saw in perspn in the 70s and 80s:

@Lash,
And to add, for good measure, this song by her, which makes me weak in the knees:

A mother singing lullabies to her baby is the most beautiful female voice of all time.

Love that song.

I can't recall if she's been mentioned previously, but I think Bette Midler deserves some consideration ... she may not have the most beautiful female voice of all time, but she sings some damn beautiful songs.

@Ticomaya,
Totally agree with you, Ticomaya.

The first one from Beaches; the second one "....God is watching you..." and the last one about Janis Joplin.

Yvonne Elliman's interpretation and voice in her interpretation of 'I don't Know How to Love Him' from JC Superstar evoke such strong feeling and soul here, it bogles my mind. I'm an agnostic so for me it's not about anything religious - trust me. It's just so pure...her acting is superb. Others, like Sarah Brightman, might be opera-trained talents but none touch the heart the way this does:

@stuh505,
It's all subjective to each individual. For me I prefer a crystal clear higher voice.. Linda Ronstadt hands down.. she sings like what I imagine an angel would sound like.
like this example.. even george jones agrees

@stuh505,
According to Homer:
Quote:
Circe warns Odysseus about the dangers he will face at sea. One of these is the Sirens. In the adventure of the Argonauts, Jason and his men faced the danger of the Sirens with the help of the singing of Orpheus. Odysseus has no Orpheus to drown out the lovely voices, so he orders his men to stuff their ears with wax and tie him to a mast so he can't escape, but can still hear them singing.

They probably used something like these:
