Man, if that'd happened here everyone would first think it was a UFO.

Why would it have been green? What metal burns green? Chromium? Is that common in meteors? Or might it have been green from atmospheric diffraction or something??

To be serious I saw a fireball on a low trajectory fairly early in the evening while vacationing at Moosehead Lake in Maine camoing. The trajectory was low so I had time to call my son out of our tent. He also saw it. It was bright in the center with a blue/green flame on the edge. That was about 25 years ago.

On the subject of UFO's--

I haven't the least doubt that people regularly see, or believe they see, objects, or what they take for objects, which are flying, or appear to them to fly, which they are then and subsequently, unable to identify . . . drawing any further conclusions from that is just plain goofy . . .

The fireball I saw was not flying. It was falling. There was no deviation on a trajectory from the southeast toward the northwest part of the lake. It also grew larger as it got closer indicating a fall and not a landing. There was no change that I could determine in its speed and judging by the approximate height (low) it wasn.t going to be in the air much longer.

I wasn't commenting on what you'd written, Bob, rather, i was responding to Lil' K's comment that such an event here would spawn numerous UFO reports--an opinion in which i concur.

Only BobSmyth and I understand that it's Kryptonite.

When will you people open your eyes?

Sorry. Thought you were putting me on the lunatic fringe. I might belong there but not for that post.

You called me strong, you called me weak,
But still your secrets I will keep
You took for granted all the times I
Never let you down
You stumbled in and bumped your head, if
Not for me then you would be dead
I picked you up and put you back
On solid ground

If I go crazy then will you still
Call me Superman
If I'm alive and well, will you be
There holding my hand
I'll keep you by my side with my
Superhuman might
Kryptonite

Hey Boss, good point, I guess I meant to say they'd be talking about aliens rather than UFOs.

Well, yeah, and that's just my point: Just because you saw, or thought you saw, an object, which may or may not have been an object, and it was flying, or appeared to fly, and you were unable to identify it--does not mean that you've seen an alien space craft . . .

Green is good.

Listen to Setanta -- It was not necessarily a space craft. Nope.
In fact, I would like to encourage you to think that this was not a space craft.

Thank you.
