'Bollywood/Hollywood' wss filmed in Toronto. Lisa Ray is a Torontonian. The mall and restaurant seemed to be filmed at the Gerrard Street Little India. I seemed to recognise the restaurant where they give Lisa Ray the proposal in the film to pretend to be the girl friend of this guy who has to attend his sister's wedding.

'Water' is a good movie but rather sad. Both movies are by Deepa Mehta also of Toronto.

I have to see some Madhu Bala movies. Wonder if I can find them here, with subtitles.

see, the trouble is that everybody seems to spell differently. It is so confusing. Of course I end up with 'leprosy' instead of a 'rain cloud'. Though I do recollect that I saw the cloud reference, I just couldn't stick it in there and make sense out of it.

Some words have multiple meanings depending on context. Hindi is fortunately phoneticwhile English is not thus you have 'My Fair Lady'. If English had a consistent way of pronouncing ah, ee (long e), i (short e), ay as in hay, nasal n (which I think German has with dot above but not English), oo (short), oooo (long), etc. you would find Hindi easier. But learn the hindi alphabeth and problem will be solved.

yes, that actually works for me well, since Slovak, my native language, is entirely phonetical. Write as you speak. The trouble comes with English - the Hindi transcribed in English spelling ends up being transcribed many different ways.
For example "bheegay" - from the title of the song - I found spelled as "bheegay", "bheege", "beegey", and "bege".
and since i speak no hindi whatsoever, trying to find translations online become a wild guessing game. They should just use Slovak spelling, it would be so easy. The whole world should, in fact. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to learn the Hindi script as well...
