I am still battling with 'meatax', I realise that should be two words, but I cannot find an alternative sofar.

Wonder what EscapePod has for the answer?

Hi Dutchy. Went abroad to escape the humidity and heat and ended up in the UK on the hottest (36.6C) day, followed by a pretty hot and humid week. End of sob story. Hope you have been keeping well and acing the xwords. Meat axe seems to be the only logical answer:
10D should be Maam
11D should be Aqua
12D should be Anew
34A should be Miaows
25A Should be Tape Measure
Ergo Meat Axe should be Meat Axe!
Will standby for a more logical logic - at the moment 'me is stumpted'

Have taken advice from a very good puzzle friend of ours and the answer is definitely as we have found it, namely "meataxe"

The large Collins English Dictionay shows it as one word, and are we to argue with them?
