Yeah, I've had that feeling too. I've only ever lived in one place that I didn't choose myself (well, once I left home) -- my boyfriend found an apartment for us when I was out of town and it was a great deal so he jumped on it. Awful place, never warmed up to it though I did all I could to make it more livable.

I wasn't allowed to paint or do any real structural adjustments, though -- you've done an AMAZING job, shewolf. Congratulations!!

Oh yes, definitely. It looks like you've sure exorcized the bad vibes in your place, Shewolf.

And hey, I really like being in my dad's house library now, too, for example.

The living room/kitchen walls are grey? Oh. I thought they looked like a sort of muted teal color (which I love) in the video clip. The bedroom walls looked sort of camel...is that right?

Also...have you thought about painting the upper cabinets in the kitchen white to match the base cabinets? (I know, I know, that would mean you couldn't use the kitchen for a few more days, but hey!...another good excuse not to cook! Cool )

Oooo!! Surprised

dang it eva, you just gave me a great idea.

Paint the cabinets white, and get some large-ish dark brown or black handles that are just eye popping...

That is exactly what I mean nimh.

I wonder though, if how I feel is effected by what I saw when I opened the door. Sort of a judgement on my half ya know?

It was NASTY that place..

most of it though, was just because it all sat there for weeks on end. Like the fridge.... the diapers..

But, anyone with 1/2 a brain should have just thrown that stuff out instead of leaving it to rot ya know ?

If you know you will be moving, and you are not going to SAY anything..
just open your trash can, throw the food in there.. and on the way out, put it in the dump.
Common sense, common curtesy.

But, I dont think so.

I am not the only person who opened that door and sort of had to stand back because of how awful it felt.
My friends that have helped, have said much of the same things.

Besides, alcohol is a pretty easy deduction when you can tell someone was locked on the patio from the inside, and decided to kick thier way in..
Or that a bed room door was locked and they kicked their way in again...
Or that the showe wall has obvious fist holes in it Confused

They make a product called "Stone Enhancer" {for your fireplace} it's like a sealer that you paint or rub on your stone. It will bring out the darker colors in the stone that you normally can't see...and adds some depth. I've used it a few times...the results are actually impressive.

Touchstone is one of the companies that make it...if you want to search them to read about it. I don't think it's terribly expensive....eh, I looked it up myself..here is the link.

"Touchstone™ Stone Enhancer is a no-sheen penetrating sealer formulated to darken, enrich and highlight the character and beauty of unsealed low porosity natural stone."

Congrats on the house!

Yes, yes, yes! Paint the upper kitchen cabinets and put on some fancy hardware! (Just the pulls...trust me, you don't want to mess with hinges.)

That's SO great! I'm sure all the work you've done, and with friends helping you, helped to get rid of the bad feelings left there, too. Putting a bunch of work and energy into a place makes it feel so much more your own.

And it looks just beautiful! Very Happy

oh no.
I wont go into the hinges.
In fact, if I want to change them, I will just buy a permanent marker the color I would like, and use that.

Im thinking they would look nice in black.

They are such a small space that unless you KNEW, or got on your knees to inspect them, you could never tell it was marker.

Here is one of the pulls I am thinking about getting from Lowes.

I was trying to find the Gecko pull that I just loved at the store.
But it seemed to be a diffrent size then what would work on our cabinets.

Its not available online though. I think I have to actually order it from the store. ( humph)
