DansGuardian uses a multiply layered, cascading filtering protocol. Simply allowing, or "passing" a URL won't do much if the site you're trying to access trips other triggers as well - blacklist, keyword, content tag - lotsa different possibilities. I suggest you try to chase down a solution to your problem via one of the DansGuard usergroups - there is no developer or vendor support for DansGuard, but the DansGuard homepage has links to an assortment of resources.

On the other hand, you might just live with it - if DansGuard isn't something you've chosen to use on your machine, odds are it was put there by whoever owns the machine and pays for the bandwidth it uses and the time users sit at it.

I've been curious about orkut, but I don't know anyone who's in it - and therefore can't get in "invite". Is the site layed out nicely? Do you like it?

As mentioned in This WikiPedia Article, an "invite" is not that difficult to come by if you wanna do a bit of webwork - supposing, of course, that after reading the article you figure there's any point in pursuing the matter further.

timberlandko, I take it you're not a big fan of Google.

Don't all of those communities have some level of spam? How is orkut different? It can't be worse than myspace, ha ha.

Oh, I like Google well enough - its my default search engine, I use a lot of their other stuff, including gMail, and Google Desktop is my default startpage for both IE and Firefox.

I'm not a big fan of the sorta site orkut and its kindred are, however; while they indeed all are spambowls, my chief objection is not for that reason but goes rather more to the overall inanity and vacuously juvenile tone which characterize them.
