When you retire you invest in low risk investments like T-bills and money market funds. You don't start fiddling with oddball investments because you'll get burned every time. If you don't have enough money coming in, then you need to go back to work. Simple as that.

Well beyond that. Every financial analyst I ever talked to tried to sell me Insurance and annuities. They are glorified car salesmen.
