I love Philthy. Too bad Lemmy kicked him out in the 90s for not learning a part.

And solid gold all time greatest feat lifetime achievement award to Rick Allen of Def Leppard....one arm for God's sake.... he has proven to me unconditionally that were he to lose his other arm he would continue on by playing with his balls.

Clem Burke (Blondie) had some good moments.

In an almost total digression, I would go well out of my way for a Jicarilla Apache drumming. It's never solo, not complex, and I've never heard the like from any other tribe, but it's almost captivating.

Did you know he briefly replaced Marky Ramone while the latter was in rehab (alcohol)? Joey fired him though, because he couldn't keep up.

But I do like Clem's drumming as well. I've been wearing out my copy of Plastic Letters.

What you think about Alan White the drummer from Oasis. He is fantastic!

I don't really know of many women drummers. Although i have seen KT Tunstall have a bash on the drums and she was pretty cool.

i'm with mctag , certainly buddy rich was one of the greatest - but i'm an old guy , must be approaching mctags age Laughing
... but last week we attended a concert by jane bunnett , one of canada's great sax players , and i think i listened to another great , young drummer .
she has for years brought to canada young musicians from cuba to give them more exposure .
last week we listenend to "jane bunnett and spirits of havana" ; she had four young and wonderful cuban musicians in her band ... and they were fabulous !
while she did introduce the musicians , none were listed by name in the program . the pianist had just won the "grand prix" at the montreal international jazz festival ; he , the drummer and the fellow on "bongos" had gone to school together and were firing each other on - what a performance it was !
hbg

you can find more about ...JANE BUNNETT...here

Sly Dunbar--by reputation the greatest reggae drummer. also featured on many non-reggae records, including Herbie Hancock's Rockit.

Dot P, good place to start is <Black Uhuru>, band Dunbar worked with for a long time. a notable track is the studio version of <Shine Eye Gal> with Keith Richards on guitar. Cool
