@edgarblythe,
As you know, edgar, I love Stagger Lee.

3 boys who have been missing in the South Pacific for 50 days and were already eulogized in a memorial service have been found alive by a New Zealand fishing boat.

The boys two 15 year olds and a 14 year old vanished while trying to row between two islands in the New Zealand territory of Tokelau on October and were declared dead after a search including New Zealand's air force.

Their craft had drifted 800 miles to a desolate part of the Pacific northeast of Fiji.The crew of a tuna boat saw them worriedly waving for help on Wednesday afternoon.

"In a physical sense, they look very physically tired, but mentally very high," told New Zealand's National Radio on Thursday.

Fredricsen said they had started to drink sea water as it hadn't rained past few days.

He said that the boys ate catching fish and seagull that had landed on their boat.

Fredricsen said the boys were dehydrated, tanned and very thin.The tunaboat's crew gave them small portions of fruit and fluids.

Perhaps they could have found their own special island

I have been following the story about the boys lost at sea, letty.
I like the music from South Pacific but never have sat through the film of it.

@edgarblythe,
PBS aired a concert version of South Pacific a few years back, starring Brian Stokes Mitchell and Reba McIntyre:

It was delightful. Brian has such a lovely baritone and Reba was so fresh and lovely (despite being older than Brian . . . a well preserved lady). There was real chemistry between them.

BTW, this is song that tells a story.

While we're in a Broadway/West End jag, this is a powerful duet that tells the whole story of Les Mis. From the 10th Anniversary celebration of Les Mis, two of the best voices to sing these roles, Colm Wilkinson and Philip Quast, neither of whom ever had a lesson.

Four Russian tourists have been attacked by a shark while swimming in the Red Sea close to their Egyptian beach hotels.
An oceanic whitetip attacked two of the tourists off the resort of Sharm el Sheikh on Tuesday, biting off their arms.
And according to Mohammed Salem, director of Sinai Conservation, the same shark may have been responsible for a second, separate attack on a Russian couple who were swimming in the same area, Sky News reports.
All four victims were flown to Cairo for medical treatment and were in critical condition.
Mohammed Salem said coast guard authorities were hunting for the shark and had issued a warning for swimmers to stay out of the water in Sharm el-Sheikh - a famed scuba diving destination.
He said that Egypt saw up to two fatal shark attacks a year and that injuries related to attacks increased as the number of swimmers in the Red Sea rose, Daily Mail reports.

Groucho Marx (sorta): "Last night I fought two Russians with one arm. Why they had just one arm I'll never know."
I always thought the conclusion to the film Jaws drew too many parallels to the conclusion to Moby Dick.

@edgarblythe,
Funny, edgar.

I always thought that jaws was a poor man's Moby Dick.

Love this story and Marty

Marty gave an excellent voice to that great song of the Alamo, letty. I could see Billy Bob Thornton and John Wayne on the parapet, thumbing their noses at Santayana and Fess Parker polishing up Old Betsy for the coming fight.

@Letty,
I think they are after the wrong guy.

if you look closely at the picture, there is a little blue fish that leads those sharks around and tells them what to do.

obviously that fish should be the one punished, not the big dumb shark...

@Rockhead,
Ah, Rock, you're talking about a pilot fish. You just reminded me of another song that tells a story.

Incidentally, they got the lyrics wrong in that one as it should be:

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of FAREWELL
When I embark;
