Most dogs know enough not to chew on poisonous things but keep them away just in case.

This plant is also called "Dumb Cane" because if you get the juice on your tongue, you'll temporarily lose the ability to speak (along with those other symptoms). In other words, keep it away from your kids, too!

Innate Ability
Hi Wy

I wouldn't really worry ... Dogs have an innate ability with knowing what is good and bad for them ....

We have lots of toxic plants on our property and our dogs never touch them

My 2 "snake" dogs warn me with their behaviour when a snake is any where in the vacinity ... they pick up on things some how ... sort of like ESP .... they sense things

Not necessary; we had a Rottweiler who used to get into the chocolate cookies.

Would it not be more sensible and appropriate to keep your dog away from such dangers?
