we planted one in the garden last year and it has become one of our favorite plants, it seem almost like a bonzai with it's tree like trunk/stem and it's purple spike flowers. Every time I dead head the blossoms it comes right back with more.

The cheirianthus I used to plant was more pink-lavender flowering. I liked it too. It was variety 'Bowle's Mauve'.
It's now listed in the last edition of Sunset Western Garden as Erysium, I think.
