Square Pyramid

I have a 18 by 12 inch paper and i need to use every part of it to make a square pyramid and i dont reallyu know how to. i dont know if i use the formula 1/3BH or 1/2bh. any ideas or insight would be great. Thanks

A square pyramid? Theres no such thing. A pyramid is a 3 dimentional triangle. The base is a square, but you can't say the whole thing is a "square pyramid"

Use the surface area formulae for a pyramid, i.e. 1/2pl, where p is the perimeter of the square pyramidal base and l is the length of a leg.

Set the surface area equal to the area of the piece of paper and solve for the product of pl.

Hint: the easiest solution is to set the base equal to a 12 inch square. Solve for the perimeter of this square and solve for l.
