Nope, not a Bighorn Sheep. The animal I posted does not live in North America. Also its horns have a distinctive shape which help identify it.
Bighorn sheep have a much more robust horn with a smaller tight curl to them (for bashing each other in the head during mating season)
ok ok ok I knew that,- of course i did!
What we have here is your classic goat of some sort.
Now being a bit of a goat afficianado myself i ought to know what kind of a goat this is.
oh! By the way.
There were these two guys out hiking when they came upon an old, abandoned mine shaft. Curious about its depth they threw in a pebble and waited for the sound of it striking the bottom, but they heard nothing. They went and got a bigger rock, threw it in and waited. Still nothing. They searched the area for something larger and came upon a railroad tie. With great difficulty, the two men carried it to the opening and threw it in. While waiting for it to hit bottom, a nubian Ibex suddenly darted between them and leapt into the hole!
The guys were still standing there with astonished looks upon their faces from the actions of the nubian ibex when a man walked up to them. He asked them if they had seen a nubian ibex anywhere in the area and they said that one had just jumped into the mine shaft in front of them! The man replied, "Oh no. That couldn't be my nubian ibex, mine was tied to a railroad tie."
so you see it does pay to know your nubian ibex from your ordinary houshold variety goat.
Looks like a French Bouquetin (Capra Ibex)...
Oy, DP, but this one is not tied!!
this one is...................................
this one too
............tired

Ha, that was great.
And what a coincidence, the subject of the joke happened to be an Ibex, just like the picture.
IBEX is close enough for an identification. Apparently there are lots of types of Ibex. Someone is up next
Whoever wants it, go for it.
how bout this little cutie
i'm off to bed shortly so no clues or confirmation for about 6 hours
post another in the meantime if you want
That is a quokka . . .
(Sorry, my image didn't work.)
You give it away, DP, because you post antipodean critters--so i go look for those when you post.
No, it a Dauw or Burchell's zebra...
