What are some good web sites I can go to regarding the history of logarithms?

My recollection is that early work on them was done by Napier and Newton. Maybe someone can correct me on this.

What was Newton's role? I have a lot of information about Napier.

I don't know exactly, but I believe that before Napier had published, Newton had worked out most of the same principles just as a personal exercise. He hadn't published because he thought it was all too obvious, and then was alarmed when Napier published the same things and they were hailed as an important contribution.

Good point. Maybe it was Wallis instead of Napier, but I do remember reading some such story.
