I think you may well be right about Wolf Creek, Deb. But then, I'm a scaredy cat .... (Seeing the last half of Goodbye Lenin later on.)

But I just hate it when that driven compulsion to clean overcomes one! You've almost finished one job & you notice at least 2 more that need urgent attention! It is like some form of self-imposed masochism. Where does that come from, I wonder? Confused Thank heaven it doesn't happen all that often, that's all I can say!

The good thing is that I have decided what BRAND of paint I shall be using to paint with...Porter's....but what FINISH and colours...oy veh!

Oh, and my DYSON vacuum cleaner ist kaput! I CAN'T clean.

Off to the vacuum doctor's on Tuesday, if they are open.

It is as frustrating as hell.

Study?

Not much money around as a kid?

Mean parents?

Extreme lack of money though we still had a house for that while, father being out of work a great deal, say, 90% of the time. Mother taking typing job. Me living at home. Often went to school with bus money only. Worked near full time for low money but that paid for my books..
Parents weren't mean people but depressed, silent most of the time.

Not to whine. Just sayin'.

Oy!

Sounds tough...the parents' silence and depression, most of all.

It was like that for me after mum died....my dad had plenty of money...but was obsessively fearful of spending. And the depression.

Oof.

I realize after posting that this has unfortunate possible connotations.

Enjoying the cleaning and clutter tips. Just bought an old hunt camp and inherited 40 years' worth of other peoples' stuff. All kinds of stuff to clear out and what's left has to be mouse-proofed. Taking our time though -- one person's trash, as they say -- never know what we might find.

I had an epiphany in the shower just then.

I shall purchase I second (or fourth) hand four drawer filing cabinet! The footprint is the same as the piece of **** I currently have, I can still put my printer on it....and oh the stuff lurking in inappropriate places it shall absorb!

"Manchester"? Wazzat?

And my other question is, will you come do a nice deep cleaning of my house? I'm moving soon and I need to do all this sort of thing, but lack the wherewithal to make myself get started...It sounds like you'd make an awfully good job of it...

Ah...you speak Murrican, not English...lol!

Manchester is sheets and such...you know, quilt covers and all.

Not sure if it covers table cloths and throws and such, but I included them under that rubric.

I am a FOUL deep cleaner!

Yay, lookit all that, you've accomplished a lot!

As for work clothes, that's a challenge fer sure. Danskos would seem to be a good base (they're pricey though!). They're a good combination of comfort (for walking) and professionalism. I seem to remember that you are someone who can "do" scarves -- not everyone can. Some kind of small collection of scarves and tailored jackets kept at work can really dress up basics. Like, go to office in black Danskos, black pants, and whatever color good-quality solid t-shirt (with a hoodie or whatever over it according to weather); have at office black tailored jacket and maybe a fine scarf with black and the color of your solid-colored t-shirt in it.

Oh...shoes...

Shoes are no problem.

I couldn't possibly walk so far in ordinary shoes...I wear good sports type shoes for that, then change into work shoes when I get to work.

I either carry shoes in my backpack, or leave them at work.

I don't think we have danksos here.

But you are sooooooo right about scarves!

I have scarves and scarves and scarves!

I often wear dark colours, and dress up with them.

Adore them.

I generally carry them to work tied to my backpack!
