I told Mis Rae that I would send her this poem, and here it is:

old age sticks
up Keep
off
signs)&

youth yanks them down(old
age
cries No

Tres)&(pas)
youth laughs
(sing

old age

scolds Forbid
den
Stop
Must
n't Don't

&)youth goes
right on
gr
owing old.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course, this is for everyone who appreciates e.e.cummings-- the Frank Lloyd Wright of the poetry set. Smile

D'art, I have always liked him. He is so different. I like "Buffalo Bill", too. and then there's the "Balloon Man". Now that one is strange. I was surprised to find in a web search, that he wrote some erotica stuff, too. Shocked

He wrote some nice love poetry, too. I remember a friend showing me some in college, when I was all broken up over some girl. It helped!

Gee, it's been a while (30+ years). I can't even remember the girl who broke my heart at the time!

Actually, that's a fib. I remember her well. She eventually married a good friend of mine. Or should I say, a former good friend...

Ah, D'Art, we've all been down that road of no return. Crying or Very sad

Well, rather than say "...it's better to have loved than lost.." why not just sing" Thank God and Greyhound You're Gone" Laughing

Oops, sorry. This is supposed to be to the little e.e.

Actually, I more or less did that very thing, Letty. Rode with a friend across the Trans-Canada Hwy and ended up in Oregon. Stayed in the NW for good...

Well, I assume that you like it state side. One thing does lead to another, often. (they call it chaining in Behavior Mod, I think)...A look on the web reminded me of Oscar Wilde and the Picture of Dorian Gray. Think I'll post a thread to the movie category.

If you have a chance, D'art. Look at my original poem called "Dusk" and tell me what you think.

I think you've got something there, Letty! Will take a few more readings, but I'm getting more each time I read it again!

Thanks, D'art. I wrote it without putting it on paper, and it may seem cryptic, but it had to do with feelings of the moment.

Cinnes, I only have e.e.cummings in anthologies left over from my teaching days. I was surprised when I went to the net to find "In Just Spring"that he had written some erotic stuff. Course, they wouldn't be in a high school anthology. Razz

I have the book, somewhere; his work is of such originality and force...

If I find it, I'll probably enfringe copyright laws and put some up here.

Until then...

because i love you)last night

clothed in sealace
appeared to me
your mind drifting
with chuckling rubbish
of pearl weed coral and stones;

lifted,and(before my
eyes sinking)inward,fled;softly
your face smile breasts gargled
by death:drowned only

again carefully through deepness to rise
these your wrists
thighs feet hands

poising
-to again utterly disappear;
rushing gently swiftly creeping
through my dreams last
night,all of your
body with its spirit floated
(clothed only in

the tide's acute weaving murmur
