I would like to install some kind of sound receiver/amplifier (a parabolic dish?) outside of my house connected to a speaker inside so that I can hear bird calls and other sounds outside while I'm indoors. Any ideas on where to look for the equipment?
There are dozens of places to buy them. Do a Google search on "Parabolic microphone".
It'd just be a matter of extending the mic cable into the house (putting the actual amp outside would be a mistake IMO.)

you could use wireless amplifier
you could use wireless amplifier. you just put the receiver indoor and install the wireless transmitter outdoors. thus, you can hear reach your aim.you could search wireless amplifier on google.
