Hi,
This is my first visit to this site and i would like some help with the above crossword,
The problem is 278 across "shabbiest" 8 letters and I have -a---e-t
Any wisdom is gratefully received

You are working on a different Colossus than me (you are in the UK?) so I am guessing.
Tattiest fits - but it is only a guess. Maybe someone else has a better idea. No doubt one of our keen solvers will add their ideas.
If you can come up with any other crossing letters it would help.

Besides tattiest, may I suggest you consider tackiest and mangiest also.

Hi Derek are you sure that your letter A is right as I have this clue in as seediest.
