I have a 3 & 1/2 year old Tiny Toy poodle. He can't stand hearing keys or anything else jingling. This noise doesn't bother most dogs. He runs & hides & he starts shaking violently. Two or three other certain noises really bother him also, that don't bother most dogs. What could be causing this behavior, & what could be done to help him to overcome this fear of certain noises?
Was he adoped from a shelter?

He wasn't adopted from a shelter.
Hold the dog comfortably in your arms - have some make one of the noises that scare the dog, when the dog freaks give him verbal and physical comfort. If he still can't calm down give him a doggie treat. Repeat this exercise a couple of times a day until the dog associates the noise with love and/or food. Love is the better choice, but sometimes with dogs nothing will work as well as liver treat.
