Ellpus, dear, you're on the right track. Don't use the "At a Glance," "New Posts" or "Unanswered" buttons. Just go directly to the Forum Index and pick which subjects you want to see.

I've been doing that practically forever, so I rarely even see what's going on in S&R or Politics (unless I'm really bored.)

(Of course, then I'm REALLY bored.)

Glad you guys are enjoying Sophie's pastries. We're so lucky to have her at the Wine Cellar. She heard we needed comfort food, so she sent over plenty for everyone. Help yourself to another!

I am sure somebody already said this, but I do not have time (I have to go to work) to read the whole thread...the other good tactic is to post some really good questions/discussion points etc.

That helps to

a. Attract different folk

b. We don't feel so overwhelmed by the crap in the new posts list

c. We have good stuff to think about and post in.

I think it's kind of funny having a crazy Arab running around harassing christians.

That the average american all of a sudden finds this muslim suddely in the middle of their livingroom via A2K is interesting to me. I think it could be an eye opener to a lot of Americans to see his perspective.(and maybe some christians will see a little bit of themselves in him).

I don't think A2K would really be the same or what people really wanted if anyone were able to dictate how or what it should be. Who knows maybe after a time ali87 might end up swaping crock pot recipes or posting cat photos or talking about his kids.

I'll bet that the crockpot recipes are copy and paste jobs, though.

That's Chinese cooking.

Well, at least I know what a mugwump is, Ellpus and all. It's a politico who sits on a fence with his mug on one side and his wump on the other. In other words, it's a moderate creature who equivocates.

Funny, I found this thread by checking "at a glance".

Now about those grapes, Francis. You French don't know grapes from crepes. I know what a gerrymander is, as well, and it goes well with domestic wine.

Okay, for real, dogs are eaten in some parts of Asia. A lot of people are trying to change that. Apparently it isn't even terribly good meat. But, we are talking about folks who aren't well off. As for cats, I dunno.

As for here, for real, if anyone was to use, er, unauthorized meat in cooking, they'd be shut down by the Health Department right quick.

And sorry to gross you out.

Saint Bernards. Those are the dogs they raise like cattle and none of the people that work there can eat the dogs. They get to attached to the dogs. Dogs love people.

It's ok. It's kind of funny really. As I was reading what you guys wrote I had these images going through my head of all the chinese food I've been eating lately... I started to wonder...

Is that really sweet and sour chicken I'm eating? shivers LOL

In many cultures, dogs and cats aren't cute little pets ... they are dinner! Especially when there isn't much else around. I would be wrong to just say it is Chinese cuisine.

In an apartment complex we own, I had to relocate an old Chinese woman because the neighbors were in an uproar. Every morning, she was seen on her porch with a meat cleaver chopping up some type of animal. Frankly I think it was probably chickens, ducks, or something like that, but her activity coincided with the rapidily decreasing cat population. People were convinced it was her, and a couple of hate incidents followed. I was afraid it was going to escalate to violence so I relocated her to one of our complexes in Chinatown in SF. Everything seemed to cool down then, and all was well. I do have to say that the cats stopped disappearing after I moved her. Who knows, maybe it was a bobcat or something like that. The complex was in a remote Marin location.

We go to tiajuanna alot for the tacos and the cheap beer. Then we started talking about how we never see any cats or dogs around. My dad is convinced we are eating cats and dogs. He has the whole theory worked out.

We love those tacos.
