Hi Everyone,

Hoping someone out there can help with my final questions as I'm running out of time to send my crosswords in!

1) Collection Contest
14 Across: Eggheads
I have B?F?I?S, which makes me think it's boffins but the description I have doesn't fit the clue.

2) Monster Colossus
70 Down: Handed-down possessions
I have H??R?O??S

81 Down:Abandoned
I have L??D?S??E

202 Down: Specifically
I have E? W?T

I'm reasonably sure that I have everything else right so if anyone else is cutting it fine like me I'm happy to help. I've completed Collection Contest, Giant Cryptic, Stinker, Spirogram, Retroflex, & both the Monsters. Feel free to ask any questions Smile

Well, 70d is "heirlooms".

I think "boffins" is correct. Scientists are jocularly called eggheads I'm pretty sure.

Will think on the others.

Is this a two & three letter answer? If so, I think the answer is "to wit", which means "that is to know". Can you revisit the clue which provides the "E" in your answer above?

lmur is correct with his answers for 14a.

Monster cross. Unfortunately have sent in entry. However for
70d I can suggests "heirlooms".

For 202d I suggest the answer is "exact". From the letters you give there are only two words possible, and they do not fit your clue.

Will work on 80d for you.

I cannot locate any word for the letters you supplied for 80d. Is it possible there are two words, as suggested by sumi?

okay 81D abandoned IS 2 words 4,5 so laid aside fits.

202D is also 2 words 2,3. to get the E, I put asidE for clue 200A: aslant.

any ideas for a word ending in T meaning aslant? I'm certain the A & the I are correct.

Butterfly, you're a marvel. That "aslant" clue was really bugging me, although I was sure "to wit" was correct. Now I can go to bed (for 2 hours before rising for Saturday golf).

Almost ready to send in my last Holiday Collection entry, Collection Contest, but wondering if someone may be able to help me with the clue:

191D. Pointy-featured
I have EL?IN

I felt sure the answer would be 'elfin', but have been unable to connect it to 'pointy-featured' in any way so far.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have "ELSIN" for that clue.

An elsin is a shoemakers awl, which is a pointed tool. See my reference below:
