Is it true that a human fetus grows a tail at a certain point in it's development???

yes, sometime in the 1st trimester, as the fetus developed there is a rounded nub at the back end.

however, it recedes around week 6.

In most cases, it recedes, but not always. On rare occasions, a baby is born with a tail.

Hehe yep I was learning about this a couple of weeks ago... well actually I was studying fish evolution but it stands. If you didn't have a post-anal tail then your internal coelom wouldn't have a defined end point. I.e. your guts would spill out the back Smile
