You are in one third the way in of a train tunnel and can only run ten miles an hour. if you turn to run out, you will be run over by a train at exactly the entrance. if you continue to run to the other end of the tunnel, the train will run you over from behind at exactly the exit.
How can the train get to the entrance or the exit at the same time as you?
It's possible if the train is at a distance from the tunnel that equals the lenght of the tunnel and the train speed is three times yours (30 miles an hour).
How about it folks? Is Francis correct, or is there a different answer?
Thanks for the help:) Someone was challenging me with this question on another web site. I hate word problems and didn't want to figure it out my self.
Ah, I love A2K.
I wish I had this site when I was doing homework in high school. Kids today have no excuse for not getting an "A".
