In the summer, it seems like The Machine is always playing somewhere in NYC, yet I've never seen them. I guess I will have to look around for them soon. I'm jonesin' for a good live show lately for some reason.

I have a question. What is it about the line "We're just two lost souls livin' in a fishbowl, year after year..." that forces everyone to stop everything and sing along? I swear I heard that song at least a hundred times in bars during my college life, and sometimes people would remain talking or drinking through most of the song, but when those lyrics came up, EVERYONE would stop and sing along. It was like an unspoken sacred rule or something.

And it's just a damn good job of writing catchy lyrics.

"We don' need no ed-u-cation, we don' need no thought control" Everybody knows that one. Or maybe "Money! The get away,"
Now, if you wanna see if someone is a Flodian just say "Big man, pig ma-an" or "When that fat old sun in the sky is falling..." or maybe "Through the fish-eyed lens of tear-stained eeeeyeees," Come to think of it, that'd be a nice test.

My favourite has to be "hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way", as I often do this on a Thursday night, between 9.40 and 9.43pm.

Then we have cocoa.

What other band can you think of, besides maybe Zeppelin or the Beatles, that had not one, but TWO historically classic albums?

the who put out 2 classic albums -- tommy & quadrophenia...

I beg to differ, region. "The Who Sell Out" trumps them all, IMHO. A seamless side of songs and radio ads, some real, some invented. Brilliant...

ok, then -- make it 3 Smile

(Sell Out was the precursor to Tommy... the last track, "Rael 1", is similar to one of the songs on Tommy...)

The song is Baba O'Reilly.

Love Who Sell Out.

Prefer DSOM.

If we're doing the whole apples and oranges thing.

In recent years, much more into the early Floyd. Saucerful, More, Obscured by Clouds--that's a Floyd nether region not often referred to. Some great ballads in there. They were more mysterious then, I think.

I listened to atom-heart-mother yesterday, and I almost liked it better than The Wall.

I also have a CD of their music which is hte soundtrack to the movie "more".
