I was working late the other night and I decided to play the album "Animals" by Pink Floyd as I was working. Wow, that is great stuff. I forgot about how amazing these guys were right from the start. Well, okay, maybe not from the very start--with Syd Barrett they were actually just annoying. But after he went to the dribble-farm, they really made unbelievably great music. What other band can you think of, besides maybe Zeppelin or the Beatles, that had not one, but TWO historically classic albums? I'm thinking Dark Side of The Moon and The Wall. I would actually put Wish You Were Here in that category too, but that's debatable.
Anyway, Pink Floyd. They were good. Don't you agree?

Right there you started to lack credibility.
Anyways...good to see you here and hope the move has been going smoothly for you.
Thanks, man. Gotta go now. Enjoy.
Agreed, Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall are their best albums. And you're right. Their oldest stuff is crap. This is a band that got much, much better with time.
You just got me listening to them again.
almost every Yes album was masterful.
"animals" is hands-down my favorite PF album because i love instrumentals.
(lyrics are highly overrated, imo...)

the who put out 2 classic albums -- tommy & quadrophenia...
didn't John Tesh have several really big albums?
Perhaps I was thinking of Yanni.
........and THIS was probably the last time Pink Floyd appeared on stage together.......

Wasn't Johnny Mathis their lead singer on The Wall?
just watched that entire performance that LE posted... very nice.
What the f**k, There is already A thread identical to this one. Same exact poll. Came out about a week ago.
Yeah, I know. I thought this was a joke.
Don't worry CD, Kicky's been busy recently and has obviously missed your thread (yours was a better one, but don't tell HIM that).
Seeing as he's better looking than you, I thought I'd post the vid links here.
Haven't Pink Floyd come a long way......

in some music circles you could add the kinks (village green and muswell hillbillies), david bowie (hunky dory, ziggy stardust)
Sorry, CrazyDiamond, but yeah, Lord Ellpus is right. I really have been busy lately, and didn't realize that you'd posted your thread already. Oops. I really need to stop posting whatever **** pops into my head right when it pops into my head...
My apologies. Shine on.

No need to apoligize. As a full-blood Floydhead, I can never get enough of talking about them.

I've really dug the lyrics because they're inspired to a large degree by Orwell's Animal Farm, although applied to capitalism.
Animals is one of the top three Floyd albums for me, along with Meddle and Wish You Were Here.
Meddle is bad ass. I prefer their post Barrett earlier work to the later stuff. IUmmagumma, Atom Heart and Meddle are my favorites.
