Discussion, organization, flexing of power. We outnumber them severely. Such a thing would unite the majority of the populace against the usurper. A lot would rest on whether or not the army went along with things.
If you don't own a rifle and a survivial backpack, buy one. Learn. It can't really hurt, and it could help in the face of governmental tyranny.
Hey! This was in response to the question,
Quote:Thanks, Asherman, for at least answering my HYPOTHETICAL question. (I doubt very much that W has that on his mind, but....) Anyway, your answer was YES, we could stop a President who wanted to subvert the Constitution and declare martial law under the type of circumstance so aptly described in BillyFalcon's "Presidential speech" a few responses above. My next question: How do we stop him?
As was pointed out by others in that thread, such a presidential usurpation of power would unite the populace, Republican and Democrat alike, against the gov't who tried to do it.
The question was, how would you be able to stop them from doing it? And how exactly was my answer leftist? If you're not prepared to defend your country from tyranny, with words or force, you're not doing your job as a citizen.
Not exactly a leftist sentiment, to arm oneself with a rifle and join the local milita to defend against governmental usurpation of power. More Libertarian.
