Mitosis: A process that takes place in the nucleus of a dividing cell and results in the formation of two new nuclei, each having the same number of chromosomes as the parent nucleus. Cell division

Amitosis: The direct method of cell division characterized by simple division of the nucleus without formation of chromosomes

A little knowledge comes in handy sometimes. Smile

By the way, this is a prospective question at the practicals...and I have been confused since morn.

Well, are you sure no chromosomes formed in amitosis?

In amitosis there's no chromosomes produced.
Dont be confused with meiosis, in which half the chromosomes of the mother cell are produced.

You have to try harder on your picture search...

You can find things like this:

Thats a fine picture. Thanks for all your effort. I don't think there could be a more colorful one. Monocystis is grey all through the life cycle , of course i can't expect to find it in red and yellow. Smile
