Lovatts Colossus 102 Stinker!!

I came up with -

40d - LACUNAE
and
202d - CYNOSURE

which meant 201a was SPENCER not Spenser.

Now can I ask whereabouts you searched to find those answers!!! ??? I thought I looked in most places.

All the pages I found definitely listed Winston Churchill's middle name as being spelt spenSer, so that was confusing.

There are many, many methods to search for a correct answer. When I am sure of some of the letters I have for a word I go to www.onelook.com site, and stick those letters in the search bar with question marks for the missing ones. This usually finds the word you are looking for. Additionally it gives you a number of Dictionary references where you can double check the word against the clue given in the crossword.
