you know what i just saw on TV????
a huge black dog (with some brown on it) ..
that adopted bunnies!!!! omg it was so adorable..
a big dog licking those tiny gray rabbits... (can everyone say "awwwwww!")
their mother rejected them and the dog fed them and raised them.. Smile
so cute!
i mean .. ok ive seen a cat adopting puppies before (and it was so sad how they showed the dog refused them, abused them, hit them with the chain that was tied on to her, pushed them, shoved them, but the cat stole them from her, and hid them under a broken trailer. they showed how she carried each puppy by the back of its neck! aww! and she fed them until they were old enough to live on their own.

but a dog adopting rabbits... i would've never thought..
animals can do the cutest but weirdest things sometimes!

really? i've heard of many animals doing that though... like when a snake's eggs hatch the snakes have to get away before she eats them..
and i heard that even rabbits sometimes could eat their young.. and lots of other animals too.. but when our rabbit gave birth on dec 17, i researched all about them, and i read that rabbits arent prone to cannibalism, unless there is something wrong with their brain.
scary.

Sharks have 2 babies in utereo, but only give birth to one..........sometime during gestation, one devours the other.

they put a uterus cam inside one shark so one could view this........knarly.

It's funny how it went from the adorable story of the dog adopting bunnies to stories of animals devouring their young. Which leads one to wonder-- maybe the dog is just fattening the bunnies up?

I dunno....that baby shark was pretty darn adorable.

Not as cute as a bunny, but cute.

They've always spoken so highly of you....

What about them critters that eat whatever dead thing their mom left lying around for them when they get born?

Oh, and hedgehogs, they eat their young.

u mean lke caterpillars and parasites and etc.?
well like ive told many people...
i love animals!!!!!!! - but not all..
snakes... *shiver* no..
insects.. no (except butterflies)
fish.. why the hell would anyone like fish?
i was talking about the plain kind.. the kind we eat.
i love dolphins!
dogs, cats, bears, rabbits, tigers, and anything of that sort- love them!
but i hate when people video tape things like a lion chasing after a zebra... and then ripping it to pieces and eating it.
im sorry but not everyone likes things like that.

oh and chai. a guy before you already informed me about the hedgehog thing..

If you put a hedgehog into a tank of water with a baby shark, I wonder which one would eat the other first?

I mean, keep in mind I'm talking about a largish hedgehog.

serious question.....

Is it the fact that many animals hunt and kill their prey that bothers you?

Or the fact that someone video taped it?

Taking the filming out of the equation....

Scientists observe animals in their natural environment to learn about them. Both predetor and prey.

They observe, they do not interfere.

To keep a predetor from its prey because they don't want to see the pretty little antelope killed might mean death for the beautiful lion or it's cubs.

I don't believe many people watch a nature show enjoying watching the death of an animal. Most watch with the understanding that it's necessary.

As you know, carnivors generally bring down the sick, old or young in the herd. Those that cannot keep up.

If the sick and old were not culled from the herd, the population would become too high, and the entire herd would suffer since there wouldn't be enough food.

Do you eat meat?
Have you thought about where you hamburger came from, and how it was slaughtered?

I am a huge animal lover, but part of that is understanding that they must kill or be killed in order for them all to survive.
