Hi Julksy, if you get stuck on any of the clues once you do manage to get hold of your 'Collection' book, don't panic over the shorter deadline time- just post here, and I'll gladly help you.

Take care.

Hi Butterfly....Just photocopy the whole thing and send me!!

OK....just joking....*laughs*...but what do you have for 56D?...."Organised hunt, okay? Much appreciated!".....Is the answer 'thankyou'?...( and if it is....I don't understand the 'organised hunt' part of the clue....can you explain it to me)?

And 65A...."Fine athlete's heart is at a lower level".....Is the answer 'neath'?

*scratches head*

Right when I thought I was getting good at these things I fall in a hole......*L*

Hi julksy

In Butterflies absence can I answer your questions?

56d = thankyou. This is an anagram of "hunt okay"

65a = neath. Last two letters of fine combined with first three letters of athlete's. The word lower is also neath.

Hope this explains it for you.
Best of luck with the entries.

Regards Dutchy

Hi Julksy and Dutchy,

Julksy, I'm so glad you were finally able to get hold of a 'Collection' book! Hope you're enjoying your cryptic- know how much you've been looking forward to it.

Your two answers were right, and Dutchy's break ups of the clues were spot on!
In clue 56D, the word 'organised' stands for 'rearranged'
(rearranged the letters of 'hunt okay' to make 'thank you')

Post again if you get stuck- I'll be online all afternoon tackling the 'Colossus Stinker' Laughing , and will keep an eye out for you if you need assistance. I'll be more than glad to help!

Hope you both have a nice afternoon.
Talk to you soon.
Warm regards, Butterfly Very Happy

Hi Julksy,

I've managed to work out how to include a 'quote' in my posts, and how to get it to say 'Julksy wrote', but I don't know how to put it at the top of the box like you have done with yours- could you please tell me how how you did it?

Thank you in advance!
Regards, Butterfly Very Happy

I have 'edited' this post to let you know that I have just worked out how to achieve the above result. Smile

Man I used to know HTML so well. But I seem to have forgotten it all. All I did was hit the 'quote' button and sort of deleted all the bits that I wasn't going to reply to.

If it's any help....
Quote:
is the start of the quote and the slash means 'end quote
. I do remember that the slash means 'end' in HTML.

Hi Julksy,

14D. He directs from back seat during race = Jockey
Self explanatory

23D. Times three = Thrice
Five = v (in roman numerals)
Hundred = c (in roman numerals)
'thrive' minus 'v', plus 'C' = thrice

27D. Kids = Offspring
Cancelled = off
Pre-Summer season = Spring

28D. Happen = Take Place
assume seat = to 'take' your 'place'

33D. Help = Servant
'Taverns' is an anagram of 'Servant'

59D. Had a quiet laugh = Chortled
went first = led
'torch' + 'led' is an anagram of 'chortled'

25A. Codes = Cyphers (variant spelling)
At first = the first letter of each word
Codes You Produced Had Everyone Really Stumped = Cyphers

32A. Admiral's vessel = Flagship
'flip' + 'gash' is an anagram of 'flagship'

39A. Driving force = Spearhead
lance tip = spear head

46A. Drug = Nicotine
company = Co
'nine' + 'co' + 'it' is an anagram of 'nicotine'

Hope to talk to you again soon Julksy.
Warm Regards, Butterfly Very Happy

Hi julksy!

Don't get down in the dumps over the cryptics.

THEY DO GET EASIER IN TIME!!!

It just takes practice and a bit of stick-with-it-ness and they do start to fall into place. The tricks will become second nature to you after a while and you will recognise words or triggers that tell you you're looking for synonyms, anagrams, rhymes.

And we ALL need a hand sometimes!!

Keep it up!
