Ask someone to add this seemingly simple list.
It must be done quickly.
1000
+ 40
+1000
+30
+1000
+20
+1000
+10
It has to be done quickly because the thousands must count upward quickly. When the 10 comes they forget where the nine is. Most answer 5000 while the answer is 4100
Add the numbers quickly yourself, then test a colleague.
Try this one on your friends.
Result verified. That's brilliant and in fact I did think 5000 as you said.
He he, try it on your friends.
Smegger gets me every time...
, I've seen this type of questions before...got me the first time, but didn't get me there
(at least I know i've learnt something from my reading of magazines while waiting for the doctor)
I got 5000, i was ending with 4900 and instead of adding 10 i accidentally added 100, but i got it right!
Psssst Slappy...
5000 is wrong, you know? Just checking.
Yup. Got 4100. And I did it pretty quickly.
WERD.
Craven ~ you're not gonna believe this, but Dougy answered with 5000, too! He told me to ask you to please forgive him!
P. S. Actually had to write the problem down for him before he'd believe he was wrong. He's a genius, but too smart for his own good sometimes!
He he, anyone can fall for it. Our brains beg us to think it's 5000.
I think what bugged him most is that YOU asked the question and he got it wrong! (Four times, but who's counting.....)
hey! the answer is 4100.
(1000+1000+1000+1000
+40+30+20+10)
I got 4,100, but I was a bean counter in my past life.
c.i.
i got 5000 too, but i can't even balance my check book!!!
i suck at math!
I got 4100 and pretty quick....4 groups of 1000=4000, then the extra 100 was pretty easy to figure out.
Ask me to count by 13s though, I'm smegged
thats fantastic. Caught me out.
