The reason that most check writers in grocery stores are women, is because women are the vast majority of grocery shoppers. Just check out the people the next time that you go to the store, and you will see what I mean!

you've got it all wrong....

It's a box of Tampax, a pint of Hagen Daz, a DVD of Terms of Endearment and a checkbook.

Depends on whether or not you have bugs in your house. Wink

You might be involved with ACH without realizing it. You may get your bank statement which shows all of the checks you paid, but some of the checks are not physically present. The entry for the missing check will indicate "ACH" and the reason the bank did not return the check to you is because they do not have it.

Will the can of Raid work on ACH?

Smile

This is good info, I had never heard of ACH. Do they handle electronic transfers with your bank (you know, if you have the bank pay your monthly bills) or is that just the bank?

Only cans certified by the Federal Reserve Board. Unfortunately these are very hard to find.

Actually the certifications are under the jurisdiction of the Federal Banking Commission not the FRB.

Boomers don't like direct deposit
The problem with direct deposit is that many organizations don't notify you when the check is deposited. We have a brokerage firm which, otherwise excellent and efficient, only notifies their clients once a month, so one has no idea of how much is in the account unless making a phone call to a robotic menu which as we all recognize is the ultimate in frustration. Must be different places. My bank's on-line services for account balances and automated payments are pretty darn good.

I'm with you on this, fishin'. I check daily (mainly to track checks that I have sent out) and am usually on the phone for 45 to 90 seconds to get all of the previous days activity.
