Mu nu nu nu
Doo doo doodoodoo,
Mu nu nu
doodoodoodoo
Mu nu nu nu
Doo doo doodoo, doodoo, doo doo doodoodoo
Who sings this? It was on a random, local radio station last weekend and I know it from my youth (sesame street?).
I believe that's the third verse of Metallica's "Enter Sandman."
<snort>!
It's all jazzy and scatty.... I think it's from the late 60s or early 70s.
any discernible lyrics?
or just the doo-doo?
littlek,
That was from Sesame Street. It maybe had something to do with MNOP in the alphabet...
Muh nom oh nop
do doo do doo doo etc.
I don't know if that's where it originated, but I have dim memories of it as a kid.
This song they played was intact whole 3, or so, minute song. No alphebits to it. I think sesame used it for the alphabet song.
It had verses and back ground singers and everything - but not a single realword was uttered.
The sweedish chef from the muppets.

O.K that would be swedish....sorry, to any swedes out there. And it wasn't the cook, but a couple of fuzzy fellas called snowths.
Noooo....
I emailed my friend Kev, he might know.
Originally from 1976 (episode 17 of the 1st season of the Muppet Show), and sung by Mahna Mahna and the two Snowths, the Mahna Mahna song was reborn as the Phenomena song in episode 7 of Muppets Tonight (broadcast 20/9/96 in the UK, 23/6/96 in the US). The Phenomena song was performed by Dr. (Sandra) Bullock the Animal Psychiatrist, who was visited by Kermit. Kermit's problem was that he saw strange creatures whenever he said the word "phenomena"...
The song has become one of the best known of all the muppet's songs. Here are the (now legendary) original lyrics...:
Chorus:
Mahna Mahna
Do doo be-do-do
Mahna Mahna
Do do-do do
Mahna Mahna
Do doo be-do-do be-do-do be-do-do be-do-do-doodle do do do-doo do!
(Improv. by Mahna Mahna)
Repeat Chorus
(Improv. by Mahna Mahna)
Repeat Chorus
(Improv. by Mahna Mahna)
Repeat Chorus
(Improv. by Mahna Mahna)
Repeat Chorus twice
<FX>phone rings<FX>
Kermit: "Hello?... Just a second... It's for you..."
Mahna Mahna (from the other end of the phone line): Mahna Mahna!
Wallace: "The question is, what is a Mahna Mahna?"
Statler: "The question is, who cares?
Where to find the Mahna Mahna song
Mahna Mahna You can download a chorus of the Mahna Mahna song from here as a 91k .au file, or you can find the whole song on the 1993 album "Muppet Hits" (by the Muppets) - on Jim Henson Records, cat no. 7 4860-30021-2.
So, what is a Mahna Mahna?
Now the question is: what song is that a parody of?
Good question, Gus. I wonder if it is at all. Somehow, I feel like it might be a muppets original, where I thought it was definitely not likely to be a sesame street original.
It just has a familiar ring to it. Like they're covering up the words.
I think the song may have been around preSesame Street. Now, Rubber Ducky, that's pure S Street.
Gus, if you ever find out what the song parodies, let me know.
Thanks!
How ya doing, Gus, it's been a while since we chatted.
