I'd have to consult a map, to be sure, but i suspect that two hundred fifty miles south of London would make for a very wet city indeed. I'll see what i can find.

Perhaps you refer to Brighton.

I cannot quickly find a map online with a legend giving me a scale of miles to be certain. That is what you will want to find in order to assure the accuracy of the answer to your question.

Lord Ellpus, as long as you're here....

I read a very interesting book about the occupation of the Channel Islands during the war. Quite funny how the locals behaved during the occupation. Apparently there are quite a few remnants from that time still on the island, i.e. bunkers, cannons. etc.

Have you been there?

I will try to remember the name of the book while I am waiting for your response.

I now realize this is going to take some time to find the title of that damn book. I remember I checked it out of the library when I was doing some research on the Channel Islands. I had three books in all, and one I particularly liked.

But I am now up to page nine (20 books per page) of a minimum of 64 pages book search site, and, from reading the descriptions of the various books, nothing rings a bell yet.

I shall continue....

No, I've never been there, Gus. I've read several books on the subject and will now scour the bookcase, as I am positive that I have one there, which was an exceptional read.
If I find it, I will either send it to you, or choose the preferred option of reading it to you, so as to save on postage.

Now, what was the bloody title...?

Are you sure that the town you want is 250 miles from London?
I think you may be referring to Brighton, which is on the south coast.A lot of celebrities have homes there, for example Paul Macartney. As it is a coastal town I am sure there would be a sailing club.

Welcome to A2K salopian.

I do believe that yoniker (the author of this thread) has passed through puberty since this question was posed.
