Cryptics are very habit-forming once you start to recognise the veiled hints.

Sometimes I look at them and shake my head in confused wonder. Then I turn to something else and come back to it next day - invariably, overnight the good old subconscious seems to have sorted things out to a great degree.

And sometimes I can spend days trying to fathom out a clue, and when it finally comes to me I mentally kick myself for overlooking the obvious!

You have to have a tenacious, if somewhat masochistic, attitude with them.

Best of all, there is always someone here who is willing to help out if one really gets stuck!!!
