Hi Farkha,

74A. Puts too many = Overcrowds
'cover words' is an anagram of ' overcrowds'

80A. Reserve = Modesty
why= Y
humble = modest

Will look at other two now and get back to you shortly.

I agree with Butterfly on those two.

42 I thought SWAN would be more likely - SWinger ANgel - do you have any cross letters that would help?

21a Tag is another term for Cue. Again, would like to know what cross letters there are.

Maybe Butterfly has more definite thoughts.

Hi Farkha,

21A. Mark = Tag
directions missing = take away'S' (South), and 'E' (East) from 'stage', which leaves you with 'tag'

Still one to go! Laughing will get back to you soon.

Hi Farkha and Lezzles,

It's nice to talk to you again Lezzles! Very Happy

Farkha, can you give us the questions that cross '42A.' on the grid, so that we can have a closer look for you?

The clue is a bit tricky, but I think Lezzles may be right with 'SWAN'- her break up of the clue makes good sense, and a cross-checking of the letters should confirm it for you.

Talk to you both soon.
Have a nice afternoon.
Regards, Butterfly Very Happy

farkha, thanks for the extra info.

I think WING is the correct word - a wing is part of an angel and is also part of sWINGer.

I agree with all of your other conclusions.

Good luck!

Hi Farkha,

Thank you for taking the time to give us the extra information, it was much appreciated- didn't want to give you the wrong advice!

Congratulations Farkha- all of your answers are correct! You have hit a home run! Laughing

1D. Searches for gold = Prospects
Futures = Prospects

2D. Dramatists = Playwrights
'women' in short = W
'W' goes under 'play'
entitlements = rights
PLAY W RIGHTS

35D. Baby = Newborn
first 'noonday excursion' = NE
NE + BROWN is an anagram of 'newborn'

36D. Assimilates = Digests
501 = DI (in roman numerals)
you = U
'U' abandoned from 'guests' = gests
DI GESTS

33A. Approved = Assented
said 'a scent ed'

38A. A number = One
Grand Prix = formula 'ONE'

44A. Restaurant bill = Tab
The 'TAB' key is located on the left side of a keyboard.

52A. Make a mistake = Err
'err' is found in the word 'intERRogation'

57A. Concentrated plant extracts = Essences
German city = Essen
central = middle
The middle of 'proCESsor'
ESSEN CES

The letters 'W--G' for 'Part angel part swinger' definitely suggests 'wing'
as the answer, as Lezzles has shown you in her last reply.

Hope you're having a good weekend Farkha.
Talk to you again soon.
Warm regards, Butterfly Very Happy

Hi Farkha,

Just a query- you said the 'P' of 'prosPects' from 1D. forms the first letter of the answer to 21A. 'Tag'.
Was it the 'T' of 'prospecTs' that you meant?

Good luck in the competition!
Take care. Warm regards, Butterfly Very Happy
