I want to move my second cable to another room. However, it does not reach the other room. Can you direct me to a site which describes what to do? I suppose there is equipment or connectors which will do the job? Perhaps a type of signal amplifier? Or possibly a splitter??
Radio Shack is my best friend when it comes to stuff like this, Mapleleaf. My local store is very helpful ~ even if I end up not buying stuff from them.
Yeah, you don't really need much here. Figure out approx. how far you want to extend the cable and run to Radio Shack (or Walmart..) and buy a splice connector and a pre-fabbed cable with the connectors already on it that reaches however far you want to go.
You shouoldn't need any signal amps and splitters are just a bad idea all the way around. Don't use them unless you have to.
What about a router and extra cable? Extra protection with that.

A router will only work if the connection is only for data (i.e. Internet access). Mapleleaf didn't specify that so I assumed he was referring to the cable for watching TV. A router won't pass the video signal to your TV set...
