Hi Farkha

Just double checking. Can you give me the name of the magazine in which Cryptic 42 was published?

Regards Dutchy

Hi Farkha,

It's nice to talk to you again!

Three = Thrice
Five = v (in roman numerals)
hundred = c (in roman numerals)
'thrive' minus 'v', plus 'c' = 'thrice'

(In good) physical condition = Health
Mr Ledger = Heath
Left = L

Hope this helps.

Regards, Butterfly Very Happy

Hi Farkha,

Horrid = Odious
'do' return = od
notices of debt = IOU'S

Obtain = Get
example = eg (abreviated)
reordered 'eg' = ge
'the' start = t

Good luck in the competition Farkha!
Regards, Butterfly Very Happy

Hi Dutchy,

Farkha must be ahead of us in this current cryptic Laughing - I haven't seen those Questions before. It would be great to know which book it's in- maybe it's the new 'Holiday collection', which for us is due out on the 15th of December.

Talk to you soon.
Warm regards, Butterfly Very Happy

Hi Butterfly & Farkha

Farkha I have no qualms regarding Butterfly's answers. She is an absolute wizard when it comes to Cryptics. Her explanations are sound and well reasoned.

I will file these answers away because I think, like Butterfly suggested, the publication of this magazine is still to roll of the presses "down-under".

Well done Butterfly we are indebted to you. Cool

Regards to you both.
Dutchy.

Greetings both-u guessed right. Cryptic 42 is from Holiday Collection 42 and I subscribe to Duthy's claims regarding Butterfly. Incidentally, thrice fits in perfectly. Will refrain from asking any more questions on the Cryptic until after 15Dec. Meanwhile look after urselves. Cheers

Hi Butterfly & Farkha

I feel the following "all there" fits the description.

Definition:

all there
Mentally unimpaired or competent.

What about you farkha, do you agree?

Dutchy, Butterfly, sorry for the double posts- did not read page 2 before sending them. Would 'chortled' fit 59d?

Hi Farkha,
It's nice to talk to you again!

Dutchy and Markr helped me earlier with 'all there', I'm glad you have that answer too!

I am a subscriber, Laughing , the books sometimes arrive in the mail before they go on sale in the stores.

Post if you need any help Farkha.
Hope to talk to you again soon.

Hi Farkha,

I think our posts are crossing each other! Laughing

I have 'chortled' too for 59D.

Had a quiet laugh = chortled
went first = led
The letters of 'torch' and 'led' are an anagram of 'chortled'

Hope this helps!

Post if you need help with any others.
