I sold all my old toys on Ebay and the profits paid for a new bathroom, but I occasionally see a picture of one of them and I get nostalgic.
My favorites were Little Kiddles. (pictured below)
I like the idea that you can tell how old someone is just by what they played with as a child. So what was your favorite toy? (keep it rated "G" guys)
Wow, those are some profits!
For me, probably:
I was always big into Legos. That and Matchbox cars took up the majority of my childhood, but I went through my phases of He-Man and G.I. Joe, as I'm sure every young lad did.
My favorite toy was a Hopalong Cassidy six shooter cap gun, complete with holster.
Toy cars. Then it happened! Matchbox Cars! Oh I was thrilled. I had to have them all. Eventually I progressed to the criminalistic level and decided to see what they were like if they were set on fire (this is a true story). Come to think of it I also used to sneak into the 5 and dime and try to cry my way into a lower than the price tag payment. Occasionally it worked when some elderly lady would be going through and feel sorry for me and pay the difference.
I no longer have those toy cars and can't for the life of me tell you what happened to most of them.
I also loved my Bugs Bunny stuffed toy which I finally gave up when I was about 10.
mostly I play with the lady Diane, she's gotten used to me by now. I don't plan on putting her on ebay.

I took very good care of my stuff. I was one of those obnoxious kids that never got their toys dirty. My mother always saved original boxes for some reason. I had some items that were close to mint and rare. I also had a grandmother that never said "no" (not a always a good thing) Some people of my age are buying back their youth and are willing to pay for the memories. I didn't know the values when I started to sell the items, so it was really part luck.
My favorite toy was the #9 1/2 Erector set (the one that let you make the 1939 World's Fair parachute jump), but nothing gave me as much fun as an old broken bridge table with four folding legs. The legs were free moving (180 degrees) and I would sit in the center as the captain of my rocket ship and use the legs to move us up or down, accelerate, fire my weapons or anything else that came to mind at a given time. When I was less adventurous, it was my elevator, bus, or everyday Model T.
My favorite toys as a lil 'un were She-ra and My Little Pony. I also had a lot of castles and sports equipment.
had a gi joe like this (darker hair)
and lots of
Flushd, you must be the same age as my oldest niece (20), she was crazy out the My Little Pony series.
We were so poor that if I hadn't been born a boy I would'a had nothing to play with.
Oops. You said to keep it "G" rated. Sorry 'bout that.

OH OH OH! I had that same horsey thing with the saddle that had the wings attached! I'd forgotten all about it! YAAAAAAY for shiny plastic horseys in jewel-tone colors!
Lucy Lamb and I were inseperable.
Hahahaha, you are just priceless Spanky.
SheWolf - I would say you are way to young to have had a "Black Sambo" book. However, I when I was a child in the 60's we had a Jamacian housekeeper and she gave me a box of books her children had outgrown. One of these was LBS. I was thrilled with the ending in which the tigers melt and turn to butter and some thing to do with pancakes. My mother didn't know I had the book until I asked for pancakes five days in a row, and she asked me why I kept asking for pancakes. I showed her the book and told her it was about tigers and pancakes.
Not long after that the book disappeared and I thought I lost it. Years later my mother admited she threw the book out. I know the book is considered racist, but all I can remember about the story is tigers and pancakes.
