three guys go to a motel, the room is $25 a night, each guys pitches in $10 dollars making a total of $30, when the cashier goes to give them back the change he realizes that he can't split $5 evenly so he keeps $2 and gives them each back $1. Where did the other $1 go??? thanks in advance

He keeps $2 and gives each of the three men $1 (ie $3 sub total) 2+3 =5 and there was $5 change.
Somewhat confused, I've seen a similar riddle before - I think you lost the trick in transcribing it.
