In the past they were talks about placing an official language in the EU. The most possible were English (as the most spoken international language) and Greek (as the oldest and mother of most European languages). Due to arguments on that they decided not to have one official language. What is your opinion about that?

The UE has already 20 official languages, hereafter:

as Francis says Europe already has 20 official languages. What do we want another official language for?

I think language has caused more arguments than anything else. It should be abolished and civilised society return to a state of grunts and gesticulations...

I was on the operation that built the Thule airbase in 1951. The airbase is in Northern Greenland above the Arctic Circle. I can attest to the fact that it does not snow there in July.

Since I did not see Spanish on the list I felt lost and possibly even confused and then I decided to select Greek. No, I did not do so because Ellinas is listed as being in Greece, in point of fact, I placed my vote on the opening page of A2K prior to even reading the post. (I'm a U.S. citizen, it is well known we vote without checking into all the facts first.) I chose Greek because I feel it is the overlooked language which would help unite us all.

Okay, I really selected it because I just wanted to.

Languages are listed in their original language, so español=Spanish.

I'm still abit confused about this poll and the listings there since indeed the EU has all those already mentioned official languages.

Good Lord! If the EU had only one "official" language, what would we translators and interpreters do for work? I'm already saddened that so many Latvian government people have learned to speak English over the past dozen years. I used to get a lot of assignments as an interpreter when these folks came to Washington. Now the assignments have become a mere trickle. When the 10 new nations were admitted to the EU and to NATO last year, I had the honor of accompanying the Latvian PM to the Oval Office and into the Rose Garden as President Bush welcomed all 10. Mr. Emsis, the PM, was one of only two who needed an interpreter. I was so glad.

The scope of my rhetoric is to emphasize the thesis, and not hypothesis, that strategy, as strategic analysis and synthesis, has an anthropocentric orientation, and is of Greek origin.

Its etymology originates from « stratos » and « igesia », and was the master art of a scope to any nike. It is based on the epistemological work of handling and maneuvering all tactical data about an organization, and about all else this organization faces in its agora. The glossary here is Greek, as in all epistemological arts. Strategy is epistemological as it is rational, and an art as it is a face of the reality. The genesis of the programmed organisations will dynamize these policies. The genesis of classical drama was not symptomatic. Aneuphoria of charismatic and talented protagonists showed fantastic scenes of historic episodes. The prologue, the theme and the epilogue, comprised the trilogy of drama while synthesis, analysis and synopsis characterized the phraseology of the text. The syntax and phraseology used by scholars, academicians and philosophers in their rhetoric, had many grammatical idioms and idiosyncrasies.

The protagonists periodically used pseudonyms. Anonymity was a syndrome that characterized the theatrical atmosphere.
The panoramic fantasy, the mystique, the melody, the aesthetics, the use of the cosmetic epithets are characteristics of drama.
