Magnetic field = special relativity

To me the existence of a magnetic field is purely a consequence of the special theory of relativity. Feynman mentions this in his "Lectures in Physics". If it were possible to develop this it may lead to answers to various puzzles that exist in classical electromagnetism.

I think, if I recall correctly, that the magnetic field is an emergent property of electric fields and length contraction, a property of special relativity. I can't remember the details though.
