A basketball team has won 50 games of 75 played. The team still has 45 games to play. How many of the remaining games must the team win in order to win 60% of all games played during the season?
So: 120 games in a season.
60% of 120 = 6*12 = 72
Already won 50 so they have to win 22 more
Or I'm mistaken.
Thanks
When I figured it, I came up with the same answer, but I wasn't sure.
A rectangle and a triangle have equal areas. The length of the rectangle is 12 inches, and it's width is 8 inches. If the base of the triangle is 32 inches, what is the length, in inches, of the altitude drawn to the base?
Please help, I have no idea on how to figure this one.
rectangle area = l*w
triangle area = b*h/2 (h = height or altitude)
rectangle area = triangle area, so:
l*w = b*h/2
Thanks for your help MarkR. But I can't write it like this. I came up with the answer 7.
This is a mult choice question.
This mom hasn't been in school in a lonnng time, any help I apprecate it.
studentmom,
Just like markr said l x w = b x h/2
The answer is 6
rectangle
12 x 8 = 96 (length x width)
triangle
32 x 6 = 192/2 = 96 (base x altitude/2)

That was a hint, not the answer.
Take:
l*w = b*h/2
and substitute what you're given:
l = 12
w = 8
b = 32
that gets you to:
12*8 = 32*h/2
now simplify:
96 = 16*h
and solve for h:
96/16 = h
6 = h
