I am stuck on 238 across: Intense dislike.
Have a?i?is
Think it could be animis but can't verify it anywhere.
Have discarded animus as letter u does not fit in with down word.
Any suggestions?

Animus seems to be the obvious solution. Could not find animis in any of my dictionaries. You may want to revisit the down word.

Thank you farkha.
I was of the same opinion as you but for the down word.
The 232 down question is grimace and the answer for this is girn and that is where the "i" comes in.

Thank you again for your input Farkha, and yes you were right about the obvious answer being "animus".

According to the Compact Oxford English Dictionary the word "girn" (for grimace) can also be written as "gurn". See following extract:

gurn
/gurn/ (also girn)

• verb Brit. pull a grotesque face.

- ORIGIN dialect variant of GRIN.

Hi Kiwinan

No problems Kiwinan. When you have other requests in the future, just raise a NEW SUBJECT, so everybody can read and assist you.

On this occasion you raised your query on the end of an old subject which probably isn't read by many people anymore. I only came across it because "able2know" sent me an update on that particular subject.

Hope this helps you.

Regards Dutchy.

Hello Dutchy
Your advice is appreciated and I will follow. I guess I'll get the hang of this soon.

Still on Stinker 101 I am stuck with clue 201 across - Bible Passage . I have PE-I-O-E
and clue 242 down, sudden outburst I have B-U-A-E
I have managed everything else, which is something of a miracle. If you are unable to help then I preume I should post the question via the "new topic" system ?

Thanks again
Kiwinan
