Hi!
I'm not exactly sure where to put this, so I guess I'll put it here. Who can think of the most beach items? This would really be a help for me, who has to post their vocabulary words on beach items, and I've run out of items!
Thanks
Blanket
Sun tan lotion
Sun tan blocker
Food
Drinks
Beach chair
Beach unbrella
Change of clothes
Hair brush
Beach cap
Towels
Money
Keys
Sandals
Okay, I'll take a crack at it - in no particular order:
Do you need words that are more difficult that mean the same thing or just a list of items in general?
car - boat
money
pails / buckets, shovel / trowel - beach toys
frisbee
sun umbrella
beach towels or mats / blanket
snorkel, fins / goggles / mask
inner tube, flotation devices - raft,
dinghy
suntan lotion, SPF, zinc oxide, self-tanner
"swimmies", life jacket (once called a "Mae West")
swim diapers... (there's a whole other list when you have a little one with you!)
bathing suits - bikini, Speedo, maillot, thong, one-piece, two-piece,
cover-up
sun hat / visor / Panama hat
sandals, water shoes, Birkenstocks, huarache sandals ... Tevas,
cooler / ice / picnic basket
refreshments/ snacks - sandwiches, napkins, fruit, plates,
water, soda, juice
nose plug
spray bottle
beach chairs (& table?)
metal detector
bathing cap
your pet (if & when allowed) + "pooper scooper"...
your kids (if you must!)
fishing pole, etc. (some do!)
TH-th-th-that's all for now!
nah, i don't need synonyms- in the back of the classroom, we have a beach in which we post our vocab words on beach items (the words aren't necassarily beach related)-thanks for all your help- keep 'em coming!
how about:
beach ball
palm tree
volleyball net, volleyball
sand
water, surf
seaweed
sun
clouds
rain
island
...
sea shells
boogie boards
ear plugs
life guards
gulls
nudists (on some beaches)
wet suits
surfers
radios
books (to read while tanning)
Why not just go to the beach and make a list of everything you see?
maybe because he's a second language learner who might not know the name of every item?
and maybe not last, but certainly not least, don't forget....
SUNGLASSES
I don't see binoculars...need 'em to see the sharks heading towards shore...
