Has anyone heard, or planning on hearing, Trio! - Bela Fleck on banjo, Stanley Clarke on bass, and Jean-Luc Ponty on violin?
They play at Symphony Hall in Boston on 10/11 and at Symphony Center in Chicago on 10/23. I'm thinking of going, but wondered if anyone has heard them.
this is the first thing that came to my mind when i saw this thread
Da Da Da
Trio
aha
aha
aha
What you will and what you won't
What you do and what you don't
What you can and what you can't
This is what you need to know:
Loved you though it didn't show
Da da da I don't love you you don't love me
Da da da I don't love you you don't love me
Da da da I don't love you you don't love me
Da da da I don't love you you don't love me
(whispered)
Ich liebe dich nicht, du liebst mich nicht, aha
Ich liebe dich nicht, du liebst mich nicht, aha
Ich liebe dich nicht, du liebst mich nicht, aha
Ich liebe dich nicht, du liebst mich nicht.
I know why you ran away, aha
Understand you couldn't stay, aha
Wonder where you are today, aha
After all was said and done
It was right for you to run!
Da da da I don't love you you don't love me
Da da da I don't love you you don't love me
Da da da I don't love you you don't love me
Da da da I don't love you you don't love me
da da da (repeat to fade)
Well it sounds vaguely familiar, vaguely interesting and I have heard of Bela Fleck. Trio is somehow connected to the Flecktones isn't it? Sorry to say I never got as much into his music as I probably should have, although I have a c.d. of his somewhere around here...
If it wasn't for the appearance being in Boston, I might even be persuaded to go.
He's ventured out with a number of folks over the years but the Flecktones feature Victor Wooten on bass, Future Man on synthesizer and Jeff Coffin on sax. He's taking a year off from the Flecktones for a number of projects. He's just finished an acoustic tour with Brian Sutton and Casey Dreissen and will begin a western tour with Edgar Meyer in November.
The only other New England stop is New Bedford on Oct 12th. That would be a longer drive for you than Boston.
Two of my favourites, Bela Fleck and Jean Luc Ponty.
Can't imagine going wrong.
<why can't they be in NYC while I'm there? oh, they'll be in Chicago>
Mr B is a big Stanley Clarke fan so we got the tickets over the weekend. I hope someone from the Boston area gives a review after the concert there.
Stanley Clarke was AMAZING. Bela is still my favorite, but he's a puppy compared to the other two.
It was a fun evening. We went to dinner, found a bar to watch the end of the Bears game (they won), went to the concert (great!), and came out in time for the 9th inning the Sox/Astros game (Sox win!!!). The weather was crappy but it was an all around fun night.
