Kickycan's Rejection Scrapbook

It has now been about two hours since my last post on this thread, and I have been mulling over the situation, wondering whether to poke my nose in....or not.

So, in true Ellpus fashion, I will stick my head above the parapet and risk having it shot off by one side or the other.

I will start off by saying that I honestly believe that SC started this thread, thinking that it would cause some jollity and end up with a bouncing back and forth of the usual one liners and amazing humour that abounds, here on A2K.

But let's face it....it has fallen flat. It wasn't the first time this has happened on A2K, nor will it be the last.

Many is the time that I have pressed the "submit" button, only to almost immediately regret my post or comment. I am not alone in this, no doubt.

Looking through various threads in the short time that I have been here, I have seen things that make me cringe, but can readily identify with the dilemma that the particular poster faced.

There are usually three or four usual suspects who leap in to a thread with the most amazing witticism or comment, that make me fall off the chair laughing. However, with most "immediate" types of humour, there are dangers and pitfalls.

One of these four, for instance, jumped into a thread quite a while back, causing all sorts of animosity.
I was reading through what was quite a heated debate/argument between two formidable characters on some serious topic or other when, just as the ranting reached it's peak, this sudden comment arrived from "you know who", saying "I think that you two should get married".
I fell about laughing, as it was perfectly timed and very funny in the circumstances. But it caused all sorts of ructions to occur.

We can witness this sort of happening all over the place, if desired.

I have almost started threads in the past, then just at the submit stage, have looked at it and thought "That's not funny...and could cause a bit of upset", and cancelled the whole thing.

What SEEMS funny and a brilliant idea at a certain moment in time in someone's brain can, an hour later, suddenly become an embarrassing nightmare.

I think all of us "silly/humerous" thread starters should put our hands up, and try to realise that it was probably not the intention of SC to start anything that may cause upset. She, IMO, was trying to have a funny "pop" at Kicky, like many other people do, from time to time.

I get it as well (see Gus's latest thread that I have only just noticed), so do many other "faces".

Now....SC may shoot me down in flames for this post.....Kicky may get annoyed that I am poking my nose in.......sorry, but it was just something I felt I had to say.

We're all human.....let's keep the laughter going. Life's too short.

I now expect a witty repost from either a farmer, or a bald guy...which makes me look completely stupid.

There again....this may be a thread killer.

Let's all be friends, eh?

Oh, hell ... I was all ready to "have a pop" at the Kickster, but then LE had to go and post that.

Now I don't know what to write.

(Plus, I'll probably regret this post later, dammit.)

Well, I regret my post because whatever is going on with straycat and kicky is not for me to comment on, and to the extent I did, and not with humor, it went further in kicky defense than other posts did and was more personal. I beg everyone's pardon, including straycat's.

I know and understand what you're getting at though, Osso.

The desire to defend Kicky warred with the desire to not be unfair to Stray Cat (dunno her motivation, don't want to incorrectly assume) and I ended up saying nothing and can now just point at Lord Ellpus' post and say "Yeah, that's it."

First off...little too much time on your hands going through Kicky's threads?

Don't pick on Kicky. Just because he's a total wuss non-alpha male who wouldn't know what to do if he walked in his bedroom on a hot girl masturbating to his picture, don't pick on him. I mean, just because he couldn't get laid in a monkey whorehouse with a fistful of bananas, he's still a nice guy. And women like nice guys, right? Ok, maybe not. But just leave that little non-pu$$y getting guy alone, ok? It's not his fault everything that come out of his mouth while talking to women is as smooth as sandpaper...well it IS his fault, but still...we shouldn't pick on him.

Slappy is right, in his main assertion, though wrong, as ever, in so many other things.

I think we would have far more fun picking on Slappy.

(I am secretly in love with Kicky, BTW, but nobody is EVER to tell him.)

I've met him on several occasions.

He usualy makes a surprise visit during one of my lurid dreams, grabs the female concerned and shows her how it is done properly.

I find this very annoying and am considering lopping off his swarthy parts when he next appears.

Heh, yer all funny.

And Lord Ellpus has it right, of course.

I think most of us got that it was just meant in a joking, jolly way, Strat Cat. But yeah, oops.

Its easy to try to be funny and end up hitting too close to home or otherwise just seeming hurtful. I mean, I'd be pretty upset at this thread. (But then, I aint no Kickycan.)

And even if you do carry it off, there's those who just dont get it and consider any of that kind of thing offensive. Even Slappy has his detractors, and he's brilliant.

So we should all just have said what Lord Ellpus said, from the beginning!

But who can equal Lord Ellpus... <sighs>
